"Bent Aluminium" nominated in Furniture design - Design preis Schweiz 2025

Bent Aluminium a project of Salon 94 design with Philippe Malouin X Lehni

During the Salone del Mobile 2025, Salon 94 Design presents a new body of work by designer Philippe Malouin, created in collaboration with Swiss furniture manufacturer Lehni. The collection, Bent Aluminium, features a series of tables, consoles, and shelves equipped with storage drawers. Notably, pieces with legs are equipped with massive nylon blocks.
The collection represents Malouin’s continued exploration of industrial materials and manufacturing processes, transformed through his distinctive design language and masterful color selections. Working closely with Lehni, renowned for their expertise in aluminum fabrication and a family business since 1922, Malouin has developed works that highlight the versatility of bent aluminium while maintaining structural integrity, and incorporates strage and functionality. The contrast of precisely-folded aluminium surfaces against the solid blocks of nylon components creates a visual tension that defines the collection’s unique character. Each piece balances technical precision with thoughtful proportions, offering practical storage solutions that disappear into the clean lines of the design.

1964-2024: 60 years aluminium shelf

At Lehni, the year 2024 will be marked by the 60th anniversary of Andreas Christen's legendary aluminium shelf. The shelf was created for the 1964 Expo in Lausanne with the help of Max Bill and was subsequently added to Lehni's product range. Today, it is one of the most important classics of Swiss furniture design.
Reason enough to honour the design icon with various events and activities. Keep up to date via the Lehni newsletter and Instagram.
