Thai Hua was born in Vietnam in 1974 and grew up in Bern. After completing the preliminary design course in Bern, Thai started a four-year apprenticeship as a goldsmith, followed by a degree in industrial design from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), which he obtained in 2003. Since then, Thai Hua has worked successfully as a freelance designer on various projects and as a contractor for producers and agencies. He has notably participated in various design competitions and has been awarded the Bosch Architecture Prize (2002) and the Swiss Design Award (2012) and nominated for the Wood Award (2012).
