Rudolf Lehni
"At the school of art, product designs were tested on prototypes. Objects made from wood could be crafted at the school's workshop – I was usually called in if there was any metalwork to be done. I also built the prototype of the Floor Lamp for Andreas Christen."
In 1928 Rudolf Lehni senior founded the Lehni sheet metal workshop in Dübendorf. He manufactured sophisticated structural and industrial sheet metal work for exterior and interior use. Close collaboration with architects, artists, and designers such as Andreas Christen (Lehni Shelf in Max Bill’s sector at the 1964 Swiss National Exposition), Donald Judd, and many more. Started Lehni furniture production in 1963/64. Rudolf Lehni was the owner until his death in 1981, when his wife, the renowned photographer Doris Lehni-Quarella, took over the company’s management.
