The Floor Lamp was the first product designed by Andreas Christen, who was still studying at the Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Arts) in Zurich at the time. A reflector made of white acrylic glass glows but also illuminates the ceiling, providing a pleasant light; a cast iron base gives stability.
This early design is already characterized by Christen's principle of reducing to the essentials, which he achieved not only by focusing on the form, but also on the construction. In 1958, Christen assembled the lamp partly from prefabricated parts like chrome-plated tubes and a standard lamp socket with a classic pull switch. It was way ahead of its time in terms of its reduced simplicity and economical use of resources. The lamp has been part of the Lehni collection since 1981.
The Floor Lamp is available in two heights. All elements are screwed together. A light source (E27) is included.
