Hanspeter Weidmann's design was created in 1984 while he was still studying at the Schule für Gestaltung Basel (Basel School of Design). The sheet steel system was a novelty at the time and the first of its kind. It offers plenty of storage space and provides an elegant solution for organising the entrance area. At only 16 cm deep, it is extremely space-saving and does not unnecessarily constrict narrow entrance areas. A tilting mechanism opens or closes all compartments simultaneously. Accordingly, shoes or other items can be stowed away out of sight while maintaining a clear overview when selecting items.
In the wide version (53 cm), the storage system is available as a shoe tipper or as a hinged coat rack with hook rail; the narrow version (32 cm) is offered both as a shoe rack and as a storage cabinet (with mirror cabinet door on request) with shelves or nylon mesh containers. The elements can be flexibly combined and are easy to assemble, well-ventilated, and easy to clean.
