A striking island structures the kitchen area in this centuries-old Engadine house in Sils and creates a spacious working environment. The worktops and colour scheme align with the historical heritage and blend into the overall architectural concept with their understated modernity.

Angled floor plans, small rooms, and low ceilings are part of the charm of historic village houses. With its three-part design, the kitchen in Schönenbuch makes optimal use of the room structure. A warm, bronze colour harmonises discreetly with the exposed beams and the partially preserved historic floors.

The listed building in Ennenda from 1912 was converted into a residential building after the post office closed. A large cooking island made of clear anodised aluminium makes optimal use of the spaciousness of the former counter area for its new function as a living space.

In this newly constructed building in Kernenried near Burgdorf, many things were approached from a different angle - including the kitchen. Neither the kitchen peninsula nor the shelving unit designed as a counter, nor the spacious cabinet holding three kitchen appliances, are standard kitchen components. They were all made to measure and customised by Lehni to meet the individual needs of the residents.

The combination of simplicity, folkloric-rural straightforwardness, contemporary comfort, and architectural ingenuity extends to the kitchen, giving this residential house a very special character.

The renovation of a residential house in Zurich Witikon by Jolles Architects reveals the potential of painted metal. Although the kitchen is densely fitted with cabinets, the distinct colouring make it appear open, fresh, and pleasant. Like Donald Judd in his work with Lehni, Jolles Architects also use the possibilities of powder-coated aluminium to realise their design ideas.

Individual details and custom designs, such as the front cover with ventilation slits or the worktop with bent sheet metal as a window base: created in collaboration with Enzmann Fischer, this kitchen gives an indication of what’s possible and feasible.
