In 1980, the Lehni Cabinet by Andreas Christen became the first basic model in the expanded furniture product range Lehni had started to pursue in 1979. The doors as well as back and side panels are made of aluminium and are attached to the edging profiles (aluminium tubes), which are connected to floor and ceiling elements made of Prepec plastic. The sophisticated design results in a favourable ratio of internal to external volume and also makes it possible to line up several cabinets without gaps. The all-round design (without a subordinate rear) also makes the cabinet suitable for free-standing placement in the room. The interior can be customised with shelves, wardrobe rails as well as scarf and tie holders, and all elements can be moved in 10 cm increments. Due to a special door mechanism, the inside is hinge-free. Thanks to a compression spring with a reversal point, an ingenious door lock closes the door automatically at the end of the closing process. The door handle is available with or without a lock; the feet are adjustable in height.
